Cedar wood fences are a popular and timeless choice for homeowners seeking a beautiful, long-lasting fencing option. Cedar is available in multiple grades, with Grade 2 being the highest quality. The higher the grade, the longer your fence will last, ensuring you get the most value from your investment. With its natural resistance to harsh weather conditions and insects, cedar is an excellent choice for fencing in Central Texas.
Cedar's natural oils protect it from the elements, making it resistant to moisture, decay, and UV damage.
The natural oils in cedar wood repel insects, ensuring your fence remains free from infestations.
Cedar fences require minimal upkeep and age gracefully over time, giving you a hassle-free fencing solution.
Cedar is less likely to warp, twist, or shrink compared to other types of wood, maintaining its shape and appearance.
Cedar wood fences are known for their unique characteristics that make them an excellent choice for property owners looking for a combination of beauty, durability, and customization.
Cedar is available in various grades, with each grade offering different levels of quality and durability. The higher the grade, the better the wood's appearance and longevity. Grade 2 cedar is considered the highest quality, ensuring a longer-lasting fence that maintains its beauty over time. The different grades of cedar also allow you more options when it comes to the price you pay for your cedar wood fence.
Cedar wood fences offer a high level of customization, allowing you to create a fence that perfectly suits your property and personal preferences. You can choose from various styles, designs, and stain options, ensuring your cedar fence is a true reflection of your unique taste.
One of the most appealing aspects of cedar wood fences is their natural beauty. Cedar's warm, reddish hues and distinctive grain patterns create a visually stunning fence that complements any landscape. Additionally, cedar fences age gracefully, developing a silvery-gray patina over time that adds character and charm.
Cedar is an environmentally friendly fencing material, as it is both biodegradable and renewable. Choosing a cedar wood fence means you're selecting a fencing option that has a lower environmental impact compared to some other materials, like vinyl or metal.

There are several applications for cedar wood fences. At Elite Fence Company, our team most often installs cedar wood fences for the following applications in the Central Texas Hill Country:
Japanese Cedar, also known as Tropical Cedar, is not actually cedar and is often used as a cheaper alternative to authentic Western Red Cedar. Japanese Cedar is actually a woody, needled evergreen tree in the Cypress Family, that is native to Central and South Japan, as well as China. This lower-quality wood is not as strong as Western Red Cedar, as Japanese Cedar tends to split and crack during installation, severely reducing its longevity. At Elite Fence Company, we never use Japanese or Tropical cedar and highly recommend against going with a company that does.
Painting cedar fences are not recommended, as painting natural Western Red Cedar can reduce the natural benefits of the fence. Cedar wood wants to be able to “breathe”, which is partially the reason they last so long and are naturally insect resistant. Instead of painting your cedar wood fence, it should be stained. Elite Fence Company offers staining services for fences we’ve installed in the Central Texas Hill Country area.
Cedar wood fences tend to be fairly low maintenance, but there are a few things you can do to ensure they last as long as possible.
